Well, according to Holistic Design, the producers of said setting, it is a ".techno-fantasy passion play.." which has spawned two role-playing games, a computer game, a music CD, miniatures, tshirts and other sundry collectibles since its inception in 1996. It should be noted that both this website and the "Fading Suns" universe are intended for mature audiences. Hopefully you will come to see this site as a fun and valuable resource for your own use.
