Ironlands takes place in a fictional world, based loosely on Western Europe in the Iron Age (meaning no elves, orcs or dragons). Focus is on the role play, but the game includes a complete combat system, allowing for improvement, but also for characters to be killed in battle. Other features of the world are a developed political and economic system, and well as a complete language, created for the game, but fully function (including grammar rules, for those interested in learning it).
